> Start with /introduction/getting-started. Use the Direct Query API (POST /query) with the Newton Fusion model (text, image, and video reasoning) or the Newton Omega encoder (time-series embeddings). ATAI_API_ENDPOINT must include the version path: /v0.5 for most APIs, /v0.6 for the Fine-Tuning Service. Pages whose descriptions are marked (Archived) document the legacy Lens runtime — do not use them for new projects.

# File Manager

> Upload and manage files for use with agents and batch processing jobs.

Almost everything you do with the Archetype AI platform requires the use of input and/or output
files. The Developer Console provides a **[File
Manager](https://console.u1.archetypeai.app/dashboard/files)** which lets you upload files for
use with Newton. It also provides the ability to view your organization's existing files as well
as metadata about them.

Above the file list is a search box for searching your file library. You can sort by file ID,
file size, file status, or file creation date by clicking on the corresponding column header.
Click the header again to reverse the sort order. You can also select the sort column and sort
order using the sorting popup (<Icon icon="up-down" iconType="solid" />) located between the
search field and the **+ Add Files** button.

## Viewing File Metadata

To view a file's metadata, click on the caret (>) in front of the file's icon and name in the
list. This expands the file's row to show the JSON metadata for the file. This information includes:

* File ID (file name)
* File UID (`fil_*`)
* File MIME type
* File size in bytes
* File creation timestamp

A clipboard icon at the top-right corner of the metadata box lets you copy to your clipboard the
metadata in JSON format.

## Deleting a File

To delete a file, hover over its row in the table. This makes visible a delete (<Icon icon="trash-can" />) icon at the right edge of the row. Click it to delete the file.

<Warning>
  There is no warning before deleting a file. Once you click the delete button, the file is
  immediately deleted.
</Warning>

## Uploading a File or Files

To upload one or more files to your organization's file library, click the **+ Add Files**
button above the top-right side of the file list. This opens the **Upload Files** dialog.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/archetypeai-bd6fb3cf/EiQFsUgXS50YsQT4/developer-console/file-manager/file-upload-dialog.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=EiQFsUgXS50YsQT4&q=85&s=b42f38e5820f2f4f0e0267117da6696b" alt="The Upload Files dialog" width="1364" height="920" data-path="developer-console/file-manager/file-upload-dialog.png" />

Specify the files to upload by either dragging and dropping files into the dialog, or by
clicking the file selection panel and using your device's standard interface to select files to
upload from its local file storage. Files are uploaded as soon as you drop them into the dialog
or finish selecting them using your device's user interface.

The dialog lists the types of files you can upload. These are:

* MP4 video files, up to 255 MB in size
* Sensor data in CSV files with a timestamp column and numeric channels
* JSON, JSONL, TSV, and text files

You may upload up to 50 files at a time.

<Note>
  The maximum file size for uploads using the File Manager is 255 MB. To upload larger files,
  you'll need to use the Files API's [direct-to-cloud](/core-concepts/files/cloud-upload)
  capabilites.
